Delays delaying things…

Well, in all the confusion as we prepare to move this weekend, I managed to delete most of the video clips I had prepared for upcoming reviews. Like over two dozen upcoming reviews. Thanks to some scrambling I managed to pull rough spots from most of the films, but some are stored in boxes and won’t be seen for months. The whole thing combined with moving means a bit of a delay before some new reviews get upped, hopefully not too long, but you never know. The Connie Chan films duriandave from SoftFilm sent me might even get up before the end of summer! Plus I promised someone else I would have a Uwe Boll film reviewed just in time for a roundtable in August, so there is something else on the to-do list. And the site’s fifth anniversary comes up just in time for me to be too distracted to plan anything special like I wanted to. But this is my site, so I can celebrate whatever anniversary I darn well please. Join us for our 5 1/2th anniversary event later this year, if I get around to it!

Here are some clues to upcoming reviews: SciFi Channel films, Japanese Gravure Clothing agents, Thai R2D2, Charlies Angels in yet another country, Monsters Inc vs Street Fighter, lizard spheres, the worst of category III, Girls kicking more butt, and Superman movies from around the world. Fun times for all!

The Flying Guillotines

The Flying Guillotines is an upcoming 2010 remake of the 1974 Shaw Brothers classic.
It has a $6-8 million budget, and will be directed by Dante Lam. Besides a cool-looking painted poster (love the retro stuff) there is little information about this film, and even less in English.

Badmovies.org has good fun reviews of The Flying Guillotine and the 1975 Master of the Flying Guillotine. Also see a modern Flying Guillotine in The Machine Girl.

$quid gets posters and trailer

The guys making $quid: The Movie, which started life as a short film and now is being a feature length film, have come up with poster, trailers, and other behind the scenes stuff.

“Their debut feature film is in a class of it’s own. About a giant squid that terrorises a New Year’s Eve cruise on the Brisbane River, the film $quid, which is the brainchild of Brisbane Boys Daley Pearson & Luke Tierney even has it’s own genre.

“We’re calling it a Romster Comedy.”

“That’s a genre we invented which is a romantic, monster, comedy.”

Pearson & Tierney wrote and will direct, produce and edit the new film, which is being shot on location at the Brisbane River.

It will star Aussie actors Ed Kavalee [Thank God You're Here, Boytown], Josh Lawson [Thank God You're Here, Sea Patrol], Christian Clark [Neighbours], Henry Nixon [Noise, The Pacific], Brooke Sheehan and Lauren Lillie.

Deep Sea Monster Raiga trailer

NipponCinema sez:

This one is set 60 years after the original, in modern-day Tokyo. Global warming causes the southern polar ice cap to gradually melt, disrupting the ecosystem and luring ancient sea monsters to Japan. Eventually an enormous sea beast called Raiga enters Asakusa via the Sumida River and begins wreaking havoc on the buildings there.

I am totally NOT Godzilla! What would make you think such a thing?
