Wait…what’s left in my happy childhood memories that hasn’t (yet) risen from the grave? All of those 70-80’s classic movies and TV shows: The Cosby Show, Diff. Strokes, Facts of Life, A-Team, Airwolf, Reading Rainbow, Sesame Street; all the ‘Cory’ and ‘Brat pack’ films…at least John Hughes died and can be reanimated in time for a Walmart Christmas gift set. They say when hell is full the remakes shall return to the screen. I’m going to get out my zombie survival handbook, mic. popcorn and my VHS copies and wait for Jesus’s long awaited sequel.

Hollywood is doing it because it is a safer way to make money because people still go to see the films. The only solution is to never go see a remake again.

I don’t understand remaking movies that are only a few years old. Are they so out of story ideas that they’re not even going to pretend originality anymore? How sad.

Old Boy interests me though, but I can’t see Steven Spielberg directing it.. That movie is way too fucked up for him.

My brother bought a package that came with the first two movies (the third wasn’t out yet). He gave #2 one watch and fired it right in the trash.

Have you seen either of the DTV sequels? I understand they got the brothers to return (but only barely in it) and I have never seen a positive review of either of them.

Of all the remakes that you listed, Slap Shot offends me the most. It’s one of my favorite movies of all time, so that’s the personal part of it. More significantly, the steel towns like the one portrayed in the original flat-out don’t exist anymore. If they’re not in all out decay like Gary, IN or Youngstown, OH, then they’re revitalized like Pittsburgh or undergoing changes like my college town of Allentown, PA.

It is destined to suck mightily.
