Those of you with cable will get to see Dinoshark on Saturday on the channel that should still be named SciFi Channel. Those of you without are doomed to wait until someone gives you a copy. So watch these preview clips or something. You could be doing worse things with your time. And hopefully Foywonder will give us a cool review quickly.
Thanks to Avery Popularity: 1% [?] Sharktopus is an actual upcoming film on SciFi Channel (SyFy….sigh…) that Roger Corman is producing. Sharktopus is rumored to have multiple mouths, but whatever it is, it better be damn awesome because that is a cool name that you have to live up to.
For more Sharktopus fun, here is a cool sculpture from McDevitt Studio Popularity: 1% [?] Demeking (aka Space Monster Demeking aka Demekingu) is a 2009 daikaiju film released in Japan that so far has avoided much exposure in the US and has really avoided clear images of the title monster. Demeking is based on a manga and much of the imagery is related to a dude riding around on a motorcycle. So it’s got that going for it.

Popularity: 1% [?] Megapiranha is the upcoming mockbuster from The Asylum set to coincide with the upcoming 3D Piranha remake. We got 80s pop star Tiffany fighting the swarming beasties as Dr. Sarah Monroe, much like her fellow 80’s pop star Debbie Gibson fought monsters in Mega Shark vs Giant Octopus. Next up Cyndi Lauper will fight Megagoonies! Joining Tiffany is Paul Logan, aka the Terminator from The Terminators (as well as Curse of the Komodo and Komodo vs. Cobra). Logan is CIA analyst Jason Fitch. The final cast member is the Brady Bunch’s Barry Williams as CIA Director Bob Grady! Check it out April 27, if you dare to watch DTV trash like this!
Besides Megapiranha, we have their Sherlock Holmes film out alter this month, followed by Meteor Apocalypse on Feb 23rd starring Joe Lando and Claudia Christian. March 30th gives us the western 6 Guns, I am not sure what that is ripping off. They go back to directly ripping off things with 7 Voyages of Sinbad, their take on Clash of the Titans that will probably have some giant monsters. We also have an upcoming flick called Airline Disaster that has no other info. Yep. Popularity: 1% [?] NipponCinema recently posted a promo-reel with lots of commercials for upcoming Blu-Ray releases of Gamera films (yes, every Gamera film is now on Blu-Ray in Japan, even the awful clip show one) as well as the Yokai War films (and Miike’s recent Yokai film) and the three Daimajin films, which leads to the promo shots of the new upcoming tv series Daimajin Kanon, which features the Daimajin running around in modern day. And if I am reading the previews right, there is also a Kamen Rider looking dude running around as well. Huh. Okay. Well, we shall see in 2010. Maybe Pulgasari will show up for a cameo! Popularity: 1% [?] Here is a free animated short called Oceansize, about workers on an oil rig who encounter a giant sea monster. It’s free, and the economy sucks, so enjoy your affordable entertainment while you can still afford an internet connection! Thanks to Avery for the head’s up! Popularity: 1% [?] ANAK NG BULKAN is a Filipino film involving a giant bird that was known only by several posters to the folks who hunt down giant monster movies. But as luck would have it, one day a poster at Kaijuphile stumbled upon a blog that had pictures of the actual Anak Ng Bulkan film (from 1959), which showed that A- The film survived, B- The film is available in some format, and C- There is a giant bird in the film. All of that rules. What also rules is poking around on the blog are all sorts of photos from other fantastic Filipino films. Some of which I wasn’t sure if they existed, some I knew existed but had never seen actual photos of. Sadly, too many of them are just posters and magazine photos (although many of the magazine photos are new to me) and the films are still lost. A shame. In any event, here are some of the pictures and the relevant links, and you should probably poke around yourself if you are into that sort of thing (I know a few of you are!) DARNA AT ANG BABAING TUOD (1965) SI DARNA AT ANG IMPAKTA (1963) GEMMA, ANG BABAING KIDLAT (1976) Other good sources for Filipino cinema include Video48 and The Search for Weng Weng. Video48 is where some of the posters are pilfered from. Popularity: 1% [?] |
