The Spiderman reboot, which looks like they are going to go all Twilight with (sigh…), will also be in in 3-D. So expect sparkly Spiderman shooting webbing directly at the camera while obsessed pale Mary Jane spends large portions of the film sitting in a chair, depressed. Then Werewolf Goblin takes off his shirt.
The remake of Escape From New York is moving forward, as now we got dirty bombs, a non-trashed New York that is still a prison, and Snake rescuing a female senator instead of the President, probably so he can bang her. It will still be terrible.
The Superman reboot will be “Godfathered” by Chris Nolan, of Dark Knight fame. Basically, they will give him a bunch of cash to tell them if their ideas are dumb so they can try to make a billion dollars again, But they probably won’t listen and they’ll make another bomb. Meanwhile, the important news is that Nolan has an idea for the third Batman film, and he and his brother are writing the script.
In non-reboot news, Roland Emmerich is still making Asimov’s Foundation Trilogy, and now it will be 3D Motion Capture, because he can demand more money from YOU! I am officially over 3D, and even the promise of a 3D Mule won’t get me back into it. This news is so bad I wish I had more reboot news…
Daredevil is getting rebooted, complete with the awesome writer of the greatest film ever, the remake of The Day The Earth Stood Still! I’m so excited I could vomit! I wonder if this will get the Twilight Treatment it looks like the Spiderman franchise is getting. Teenage Daredevil, a sparkling demon sitting in class, when suddenly this ninja chick Elektra moves in and there is a love triangle with werewolf Bullseye…
AICN is reporting Tron Legacy (aka Tron 2) may be the first of several more Tron stuff, including a TV series and a third film. Assuming it doesn’t Tron tank at the box office.
The Asylum’s trailer for their Sherlock Holmes mockbuster is up, watch as Holmes and Watson fight giant monsters and Spring Heeled Jack (played by Enterprise regular Dominic Keating) Thanks to Avery for the link
Foywonder has up the 8th Foycast (complete with the worst DTV horror of 2009), as well as the February Foyeruism. Suggested listening and reading!
Takashi Miike’s upcoming Zebraman 2 is getting a spin-off as well! Revenge of the Zebra Miniskirt Police! Seriously. And the three actresses won their roles thanks to a tv show contest, according to a commentor at Twitch. Hopefully the Miike connection will keep this flick from becoming lost in the Japanese DTV sea.
Megapiranha is the upcoming mockbuster from The Asylum set to coincide with the upcoming 3D Piranha remake. We got 80s pop star Tiffany fighting the swarming beasties as Dr. Sarah Monroe, much like her fellow 80’s pop star Debbie Gibson fought monsters in Mega Shark vs Giant Octopus. Next up Cyndi Lauper will fight Megagoonies! Joining Tiffany is Paul Logan, aka the Terminator from The Terminators (as well as Curse of the Komodo and Komodo vs. Cobra). Logan is CIA analyst Jason Fitch. The final cast member is the Brady Bunch’s Barry Williams as CIA Director Bob Grady! Check it out April 27, if you dare to watch DTV trash like this!
Besides Megapiranha, we have their Sherlock Holmes film out alter this month, followed by Meteor Apocalypse on Feb 23rd starring Joe Lando and Claudia Christian. March 30th gives us the western 6 Guns, I am not sure what that is ripping off. They go back to directly ripping off things with 7 Voyages of Sinbad, their take on Clash of the Titans that will probably have some giant monsters. We also have an upcoming flick called Airline Disaster that has no other info. Yep. Official site
UPDATE – Read the TarsTarkas.NET review of Asylum’s Princess of Mars!
The trailer for The Asylum’s Princess of Mars hit the web yesterday, the one day in the past month I DIDN’T check The Asylum’s website for news on the trailer. So once again, The Asylum finds a way to screw me over, this time not even involving making me watch a horrible film! Damn crafty, those Asylum blokes. And they know I’ll be watching Princess of Mars, so they win again. Asylum! Gah!!!
So, anyway, the trailer is here. You need Quicktime, or Quicktime Alternative, which is better. Or just watch this YouTube version of it!
The latest Mockbuster from The Asylum will be hot on the heels of the upcoming Sherlock Holmes film. Ben Snyder is Sherlock, Gareth David-Lloyd is Watson, and Dominic Keating from Enterprise is Spring-Heeled Jack. Oh, and the poster promises a Tyrannosaurus, a giant Kraken, and a flame-breathing dragon monster. Just like the Sir Arthur Conan Doyle YOU remember! The plot from the website: Sir Arthur Conan Doyle’s famous detective faces the ultimate challenge when enormous monsters attack London. I thought that was just going to be The Hound of the Baskervilles or something until I saw the poster. Check it out:
See you on January 26, 2010!
