Rampage getting a movie, no Uwe Boll in sight…

Rampage

THR is reporting that Rampage is being developed into a feature film. This is the Rampage that involves the giant monsters destroying buildings that was frakking awesome, not whatever the heck Uwe Boll did. As New Line Cinema owns Midway, maybe they’ll mine the library for lots of potential movies. John Rickard is developing this, taking time off from the upcoming Jack the Giant Killer release, which somehow became a big budget film coming out 2012.

For those of you keeping track at home, this is Warner Brothers’s third picture involving giant monsters, as Godzilla and Pacific Rim are both being cofinanced by WB while coming out of Legendary Pictures.

Also, we demand nudity as these monsters revert back to human. It’s just required, okay???

Takashi Miike news – Ace Attorney and Ninja Kids

Another video game becomes a film as Takashi Miike has confirmed his statements about making Ace Attorney (Gyakuten Saiban) into a feature film. Narimiya Hiroki will play Naruhodo Ryuichi/Phoenix Wright, Kiritani Mirei is Ayasato Mayoi/Maya Fey, and Saito Takumi is Mitsurugi Reiji/Miles Edgeworth. Plot: The plot of the movie takes place in an alternate universe, where an increase in heinous crimes has forced Japanese attorneys and prosecutors to confront each other in a new court system that gives the accused only three days to prove their innocence. In this system, speed is favored over hard evidence and forensic science, forcing both the defense and the prosecution to do much of their own hurried investigation before time runs out.

I’ve not played these games, so I won’t have my childhood raped. Take that, NintendoDS havers!

Ace Attorney

Expect 90 minutes of this

In other Miike news, here is the trailer for Ninja Kids, a movie about Ninja Kids. Looks goofy.

Why is the Madden Curse being made into a movie?

To get to the other side! No, wait, it’s because movie studios are dumb. Specifically, EA Sports is dumb, even though they make video games, not movies. But someone will pick it up because Hollywood is dumb. I have faith in my fellow man. My fellow dumb Hollywood man. I hope this idea gets Madden Cursed, but I have awful luck on wishing doom upon video game movies.

You've all been cursed, fools!!!!

Uncharted: Drake’s Fortune gonna get filmed

Uncharted: Drake’s Fortune is a video game franchise I haven’t played and soon it will be a movie. It’s basically Lara Croft sans boobs, aka Indiana Jones modern day. And it better not have any nuked fridges! What is interesting is there is some sort of alternate playthrough where your character Nathan Drake is fat fat fat, known as Donut Drake! Now that’s a movie!

David O. Russell (Three Kings, The Fighter) has been set to write and direct Columbia Pictures’ Uncharted: Drake’s Fortune, an action-adventure based upon the bestselling PlayStation 3 game, it was announced today by Doug Belgrad and Matt Tolmach, presidents of Columbia Pictures. The film will be produced by Avi Arad, Charles Roven, Ari Arad, and Alex Gartner.

The story follows the adventures of treasure hunter Nathan Drake.

Commenting on the announcement, Tolmach said, “David is a tremendous choice to take on this film. He’s equally adept at combining all the classic elements involved in this property: great character development, strong comedy, and amazing action sequences. He has a brilliant vision for this material and we know he will bring his original, unique voice to this adaptation.”

If Shia Labeouf rounds the corner, he's dead!

Give me the whip cream! Throw me the glazed!

Mafia Wars – the Facebook game you blocked with Farmville – will now be a movie

Block it now, mother frakker!! This movie will be awesome if trailers for it play constantly during the middle of the Social Network movie until you block the application. Luckily, the few Facebook games I play are probably too obscure to be turned into films. All that is known so far is the logline: “crime thriller based on the popular video game” and Ted Field and Radar Pictures are developing the project. What, was Uwe Boll busy?

Street Wars South 2

This has nothing to do with anything

Shattered Union the latest video game to become a film

Because we all love video game films. So this one might not suck so much, as Jerry Bruckheimer is producing and J. Michael Straczynski is writing. Through the Disney production house, so expect it to feel like Pirates of the Caribbean meets Babylon 5. That’s what I say, and I am always right. The story of the Shattered Union video game involves a huge civil war in the US after DC gets nuked and the country fractures. Just like in Pirates of the Caribbean. Or not. Also Straczynski is doing a Silver Surfer film, because everyone loved the Silver Surfer from Fantastic Four 2: Bland Harder.
